The Great Smoky Mountains Backpacking adventure Amy and I went on in June.
A trip to Nicaragua in September
A Fulbright teaching grant to Malaysia starting around Thanksgiving

Just letting y’al know I rewrote the ‘About me’ page (over on the right side). It’s no longer about where I’ve lived. It’s actually, about me!

Absolutely Hilarious!

My entire week so far has been full of hilarity. From Deepani writing a wide variety of emails, the most recent, at 7:30am, said:

There’s a buttload of birds chirping somewhere outside my window right now. I think one of them sounds like you.

And there were others, much funnier. Also a number of funny exchanges with a coworker in the last day or two. Then I was listening to Rainer Maria’s “Lost, Dropped, and Cancelled,” which starts out as “Expect me as one waits for mail; All lost and dropped and cancelled” and the refrain goes, “I want to be delivered!”

That got me thinking about my poem, “The Freedom of a Heart Sitting on the Sidewalk” (available now at http://webkevin.com/poetry) in which the heart couldn’t stomach going back west. Couldn’t stomach! Ha! Get it? The HEART couldn’t STOMACH! HA HA

A Quiet Day

Yes indeed, today is quiet, eerie, and I’m at a loss. I’ve been in a mood to write (poetry) for a few weeks now, building increasingly week by week, but cannot actually get it done.

In it’s place, I’m able to play piano better than ever before… but that’s not creative (at this point).

An about page.

I'm me, Kevin: thinker, dreamer, teacher wannabe. Something like that.

I grew up in a little town in Northern New Jersey called Sparta. Shoot. I don't need to tell you. Here it is (down there). I've cropped it so you see the area around the lake. If you go nor th or west, you have farmlands, although if you go further east you'll have the new subdivisions. Most of my good friends, and myself, were in the "old" town.

Now in St Louis, I rehab a house when I'm not working for a DNA sequencing center. I'm just trying to make due, generally be a benefit to the people around me, and ensure that I can do what I want or feel is important (these are different, frequently). Other times, my motorcycle or car kidnap me and drag me all around the continent. When that happens, all bets are off.
